PIERRE-AXEL COULIBEUF
Pierre-Axel Coulibeuf’s work explores mass, material and form through sculptural objects. His practice moves between sculpture and functional design, with each work shaped by an ongoing exploration of material, process and proportion.
Pierre-Axel is a French-born artist based in Santa Barbara, California. His background spans design, interiors and architecture, before progressively moving toward collectible design and sculpture.
After living and working in London, Coulibeuf relocated to California, where his practice evolved toward a more physical and material-driven approach to making. Working across materials and processes, he develops objects through experimentation with volume, balance, surface and proportion.
His recent work marks a further shift toward sculpture. The Monolithic collection explores substantial, hand-shaped forms in which function remains present but increasingly secondary to mass, gesture and material.
